With her passion for baking, you would think Wendi was born with a whisk in one hand and an oven mitt in the other. Wendi grew up in a family where gatherings rarely made it out of the kitchen. Wendi's Grandmother deftly ran the household kitchen with her treasured book of family recipes, and her mother was a chocolatier, so it is no surprise that Wendi ended up owning her own bakery.
In 2004, after the birth of their youngest child, Wendi and her husband (who also has an affinity for cooking and baking) started running a daycare out of their house. Each month, Wendi would bake and decorate a cake for the children having a birthday that month. The parents were invited to join the celebrations. Parents took notice that the cakes they were seeing at the birthday parties were of a much higher quality and taste than store-bought cake and they began offering to pay Wendi for cakes.
SweeTreats Cake Boutique was born in 2008 as a licensed in-home kitchen located in Wilsonville, Oregon. Each week, the family would prepare and package baked goods and bring them to Farmer's Markets in Tigard and Wilsonville, OR. While in Oregon, Wendi won 1st place at the county fair for a Wedding Cake. In 2010, after relocating to Pennsylvania, SweeTreats continued to operate as a licensed home-based business and the name changed to SweeTreats by Wendi as cakes were no longer the only thing we did.
In October, 2018, SweeTreats by Wendi moved out of the house and into a retail shop at the West Shore Farmers Market in Lemoyne, PA. To reflect the wide range of baked goods offered, the name was changed to SweeTreats Bakery.
We take pride in continuing to bake the way we always have; from scratch. Scratch bakeries are sadly becoming a thing of the past but give SweeTreats Bakery a try and you will taste the difference of home made.
